Centers And Squares
Welcome to Centers and Squares
As a Cambridge real estate agent, the city squares of Cambridge, Somerville and Medford and the town centers of Arlington, Watertown and Belmont, Massachusetts are my home turf. And as a lifelong New Englander who’s lived within twenty miles of Boston most of my life, I can introduce you to other nearby towns as we search for your new home. If you’re planning to sell your home in Cambridge, MA or nearby you’ll find plenty of info about the home selling process here too. Questions? Send me an email or call me at 617-504-1737.
Cambridge Real Estate – Weekly New Listings Tour – Cambridge – Arlington – Somerville
Our office tours new listings every Wednesday morning. This morning it was hard to be enthusiastic – 18 degrees, more snow, fewer parking spaces, and the prospect of putting boots on and off at every property was enough to make me want to stay at home where it was warm.
But I love touring new listings and I was happy to see we had 15 properties on the tour. The actual breakdown was 11 condos, 3 single families, and 1 multi-family. Since we’ve been in a period of low inventory and it’s been difficult for buyers to find what they want I was delighted to see plenty of new listings on this tour.
My Favorite New Listings:
Cambridge Listings
– An absolutely lovely condominium in a brick building in the Radcliffe neighborhood at the base of Avon Hill in Cambridge. Spacious and immaculate, this beautifully decorated condo had a renovated kitchen and bath. This condo was priced at $589,000 and was a hit with the large crowd of agents who trooped through.
– A loft condo in a repurposed industrial building in West Cambridge for $318,000. A wall of windows, industrial design features, and parking. Fresh Pond is just down the street, a charming branch of the Cambridge Public Library is around the corner, and the supermarket is within a block.
– A worker’s cottage on a West Cambridge side street between Brattle and Mount Auburn Streets. Transformed by the designer owners the house is a jewel box and is priced at $1,475,000. It was particularly fun to see in person since I had seen the episode of NECN’s New England Dream House that featured the house. I also saw the “before version” when the house, in its original and untouched state, was on the market. A stellar transformation!
– A two-bedroom, two-bath condominium in a modern building on Mass Ave in Cambridge was an unexpected surprise. With in-unit laundry, master bath, a super kitchen, hardwood floors and just over 1000 s.f. this seemed to be a superb value at $389,900. All the convenience of being close to the shops and restaurants of Mass Ave and the bike path to Davis Square but with a back of the building location that means you’re away from the traffic.
– A spacious one-bedroom condo that could be used as a two-bedroom to help with the mortage was located on Crescent Street in the Agassiz neighborhood of Cambridge. One of my favorite streets in the neighborhood, Crescent Street is tucked away behind Oxford Street and and is lined with charming houses.
Arlington Listings
– An Arlington single family in the Brackett school district. It’s bound to be popular since the last few houses in the Brackett neighborhood sold with multiple offers. This Dutch Colonial was a pleasant surprise with an unusually open floor plan, loads of light, and, with the leaves off the trees, a view of the Boston skyline from the master bedroom. In fact – from the bed – open your eyes in the morning and there’s the Prudential and the Hancock Tower – sweet!
Somerville Listings
– A three-bedroom, 2.5 bath Somerville condominium near Davis Square and Ball Square. Renovated with style by Burke Builders of Arlington several years ago, this condo has a gorgeous kitchen and rooms on three levels. The Burkes do quality work and have done projects of 2 to 3 units in Cambridge, Arlington, Medford and Lexington. I’ve sold several of their properties and they always stand out among the renovated condos we see on the market.
It was a great day – despite putting on my boots more than a dozen times before noon.
If you have questions about these properties or any others you see on the site you can email me or call me at 617-844-2713. And watch for next Wednesday’s new listings tour report.
