10-14 Remington Street – History
10-14 Remington Street was built in the Tudor Revival style in 1910. The three story apartment building, named Remington Gables, was designed by architects Newhall and Blevins whose many other Cambridge buildings include 10 Dana Street and 8-10 Avon Street .
The building was featured in the December 1921 issue of The Architectural Record in an article entitled “Tendencies in Apartment House Design: Open Court Types.” The author noted that the building’s ells in a back to back U/E shape “provide the tenants as much cross draft and exposure as they could expect to secure in a private house.”

Steamy Day for an Open House
It was a very hot day for an open house.
I was hosting an open house at 166 Sylvia Street in Arlington.
It was so hot I brought my own fan.
Despite the heat quite a few buyers stopped by.
One real estate buyer pointed out the indoor / outdoor thermometer.
100 degrees outside. Ouch!
I’m ready for fall.
166 Sylvia Street, Arlington is a sweetheart of a house – cheery and beautifully maintained. It’s a wonderfully quiet spot yet public transportation and Mass Ave are close by. This Arlington single family is listed for $409,000. Call me today at 617-504-1737 to take a look!
61 Garfield St Cambridge Condos
61 Garfield St Cambridge Condos Cambridge real estate buyers looking for a quintessential Cambridge condo near Harvard and Porter Square will want to look at 61 Garfield Street.
This is one of Cambridge’s charming and popular “Harlow buildings”, designed by architect Hamilton Harlow in 1917.
61 Garfield St Cambridge – Neighborhood Info
Garfield Street is one of my favorite Cambridge streets – lined with large, distinctive Victorians and just one block long. It runs from Mass Ave to Oxford Street midway between Porter Square and Harvard Square in the Agassiz neighborhood. It’s such a fun stretch – there are always people strolling down Mass Ave well into the evening since there are a number of restaurants and cafes in addition to interesting shops and boutiques.
You’ll have a variety of transportation options here. The bus runs down Mass Ave regularly and there are Red Line subway stops in Harvard Square and Porter Square. For commuting by car there’s easy access to Route 2 or Route 93 in one direction and Storrow and Memorial Drives in the other. And if you only use a car occasionally – easy to do with such good access to public transportation – there are Zipcar vehicles in the neighborhood.
61 Garfield St Condo Features
- Four stories, walk-up
- 17 one and two-bedroom condos
- 673 to 1,030 sq. ft.
- Bay windows
- Maple floors
- High ceilings

Arlington Single Family – Open House – June 18 and June 19
Arlington Single Family – Open House – June 18 and June 19 Stop by the first open house at this newly listed Arlington single family house.
It’s going to be a hot weekend – but on the way to the beach or on your way to visit Dad on Sunday – stop by 166 Sylvia Street in Arlington, MA.
New to the market and listed for $409,000, 166 Sylvia Street will be open on Saturday, June 18, 2010 from noon to one and on Sunday, June 19, 2010 from noon to 1:30.
Arlington Open House – June 18 and June 19, 2010
166 Sylvia Street is a “creampuff” – a beautifully maintained home in pristine condition. Bright and cheery, it looks as good as it did the year it was built.
The house has three bedrooms, a lovely living room with fireplace, a spacious eat-in kitchen, and an updated bath. Downstairs there’s a family room with fieldstone fireplace; a summer kitchen that would work well for crafts, workspace, what have you; laundry; a half bath; and access to the garage.
The wall to wall carpet has been protecting the beautiful oak floors for decades. Those of you who aren’t fans of wallpaper will be happy to see that there’s little of it here – most of the walls (plaster in excellent condition) are painted.
There’s a lovely landscaped level side yard and two driveways. The house is tucked away in a quiet, low traffic location – most of the time all you hear are the birds singing.
A playground is around the corner on Hibbert Street, buses to Harvard and Alewife stop two blocks away, and the Minuteman Bike Path is adjacent to Mass Ave at the base of Sylvia Street. Sutherland Woods conservation area abuts the neighborhood. Trader Joe’s, Wilson Farms, Arlington Heights and Lexington Center are a short ways away. 166 Sylvia Street is in the Dallin School district and Dallin is approx. six tenths of a mile from the house.
This newly listed Arlington single family – 166 Sylvia Street – will be open Saturday, June 18 from 12 to 1 pm and Sunday, June 19 from 12 to 1:30 pm.
If you can’t come to the open house this weekend call Elizabeth Bolton of Coldwell Banker to schedule a visit. Liz can be reached by phone at 617-504-1737 or by email. For more info and additonal photos see the 166 Sylvia Street website.

22 Line St Somerville Condos
22 Line St Somerville Condos The five townhouses at 22 Line Street were built in 2002.

At the other end you’ll find Kirkland Village with Savenor’s Market and several places to grab a bite to eat. Union Square’s not far away and it’s an easy walk to Harvard Square.
